Depth Shift

Alex Rivera, a gifted but broke videographer, stumbles onto a parallax hack that makes ordinary footage reveal impossible depth and concealed figures. What begins as a trick to juice his metrics turns nightmarish when the shifting layers expose a covert network erasing dissidents by editing them out of existence. Pursued by operatives who control the visible world, Alex must recruit allies, decode buried frames, and stage a final broadcast that forces the entire city to experience the same impossible shift. Every cut risks rewriting memory; every new angle could be his last. In a climax of cascading vantages, he turns the conspiracy’s own technology against them, proving that once the depth is seen it cannot be unseen.

Rain streaks the window. ALEX RIVERA, 27, hoodie up, hunches over a laptop. Raw street footage plays. He drags a slider. Suddenly the foreground pedestrians SLIDE FAST across frame while the distant skyline barely moves. A woman in the extreme foreground turns, eyes locking on camera—impossible, she wasn’t there a second ago.

He scrubs. She reappears at a different depth each time, mouthing the same silent scream. Alex’s phone buzzes—10K new followers in ten minutes. He leans closer. Behind the woman, a black SUV idles at an angle that shouldn’t exist. Headlights flare directly into lens.
